How to Access Tax Information Online
- From One.IU, select the Employee Center.
- Click Payroll and Tax on the Employee Center home page.
- Tax information is available via the left hand menu in the Federal Tax Withholding and IN Tax Withholding sections.
W-2: Federal Taxes
You must consent if you would like to receive your W-2 tax form as a PDF in One.IU. If you do not consent, you will receive your W-2 through the U.S. mail.
W-2 data is populated as you build a work history with IU. You can view and print previous year forms as they accrue.
To find out when this year's W-2s will be available, consult the Tax Form Forecast page.
1095-C: Employer-Provided Health Insurance
You must consent if you would like to receive your 1095-C tax form as a PDF in One.IU. If you do not consent, you will receive your 1095-C through the U.S. mail.
W-4: Federal Tax Withholding
New employees should click Federal Tax Withholding in the left hand menu to fill out the W-4 tax form. Be sure to fill out all sections and click Submit on the W-4 form. If you do not complete this step, your federal tax withholding will be set at the highest withholding rate of "single" and "0" allowances.
WH-4: State and Local Tax Withholding
New employees should click IN Tax Withholding in the left hand menu to fill out the Indiana Employee's Withholding Exemption and County Status Certificate (WH-4) tax information form with your state and local exemptions, additional withholding, and additional exemption status. Be sure to fill out all sections and click Submit. If you do not complete this step, your state and county tax withholding will be set at the highest withholding rate.
Note: if you live in an Indiana county different from the IU campus where you work, you will have a Non-resident Locality withholding tax line shown.
Living and/or Working Outside Indiana
If you work for IU but live or work outside of the state of Indiana, you may need to complete additional or alternate paperwork. Review this information, provided by University Tax Services, to make that determination.
Student Academic and Adjunct Faculty Appointees
If you are appointed as a student academic or an adjunct faculty member, IU's tax withholding process may result in lower than expected federal income tax withholding. Please review this guide, provided by University Tax Services, for additional information.
You can increase the amount of federal tax withheld from your paycheck by updating your withholding information provided on your W-4 (see instructions above).
Request for Duplicate Tax Forms
Former IU students and/or former IU employees may request a duplicate tax form by submitting a completed copy of the Request for IU Duplicate Tax Form(s) to be Mailed or Faxed form along with a government-issued photo ID.
